Navy CVN-21 Aircraft Carrier Program: Background and Issues for Congress
The Administrations FY2004 defense budget requests $626.1 million in advance procurement funding and $327.3 million in research and development funding for CVN-21, an aircraft carrier that the Navy plans to procure in FY2007. The Navy estimates that CVN-21 will cost a total of about $3.1 billion to develop and $8.6 billion to procure, for a total acquisition cost of about $11.7 billion.
