The Iran Sanctions Act (ISA)

No firms have been sanctioned under the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA), although some say it continues to serve as a useful deterrent to foreign investment in Iran's key energy sector. Legislation in the 109th Congress (P.L. 109-293) extended it until December 31, 2011, terminated application to Libya, and added a few provisions. ISA-related legislation in the 110th Congress, such as H.R. 1400 (passed by the House on September 25, 2007), would add still more provisions.
